The Charleston Navigation Company Headquarters was designed to replace the existing facility on the Charleston Harbor, adjacent to Waterfront Park. The new 4,000 SF building housed offices, a conference room, living quarters for harbor pilots, and a dispatch center for monitoring ship traffic. With an estimated construction cost of $1.6 million, the facility was built to withstand the harsh coastal environment, incorporating a concrete foundation, cementitious siding, PVC trim, vinyl-clad windows and doors, stainless steel handrails, and a copper roof for durability against strong winds and saltwater exposure.
