Founded in 1981, GBA Architecture is a multi-disciplinary design firm specializing in architecture, planning, and interior design. Originally known as Glick/Boehm & Associates and established by Myles Glick, AIA, LEED AP, and Gary Boehm, AIA, LEED AP, the firm was built on a foundation of creativity, technical excellence, and a commitment to design that enhances the human experience. From the start, our focus has been on delivering more than buildings—offering personal service, sustainable solutions, and meaningful places that inspire.

In 2006, Shawn Mellin became a principal and assumed leadership of the firm in 2022 upon the retirement of Myles and Gary. In 2025, James (Billy) Bishop—who has been with GBA since 2012—joined as a principal. Together, Shawn and Billy represent the next generation of leadership, bringing fresh vision while honoring the firm’s legacy of thoughtful, high-quality design and client service.

Over the years, GBA has grown from its roots in resort and residential work in Kiawah, to a diverse portfolio that includes commercial, office, retail, automotive, hospitality, liturgical, industrial, municipal, K–12, higher education, multifamily, and custom residential projects. This breadth of experience allows us to deliver creative, efficient, and tailored solutions for every client.

Based in Charleston, South Carolina, GBA serves clients throughout the Southeast with an interdisciplinary team of 14. With NCARB-certified senior principals, we offer national licensing flexibility and a continued commitment to innovative, responsive, and enduring architecture.
