Shawn Mellin, AIA, LEED AP
PRINCIPAL
Shawn has been with GBA Architecture since 1994 and was promoted to the position of Principal in 2006. He has overseen a wide range of private and government sector projects, including commercial, hospitality, healthcare, department of defense, religious, historic, and residential. Shawn has taken projects from conception through all aspects of design and construction.
Shawn’s responsibilities include overseeing the project delivery process from beginning to end and providing continuous client contact throughout the project duration. Shawn produces feasibility studies, construction budgets, site analyses, programming documents, concept and schematic designs. He also oversees multi-discipline consultant teams, coordinates construction documents, produces specifications and oversees construction contract administration.
Shawn received his Bachelor of Architecture degree from Wentworth Institute of Technology in 1991 and has been a registered Architect since 1996.
Fun Fact: “In my younger years, I skied the majority of western US and Canada ski areas including heli-skiing in the Canadian backcountry.”

James (Billy) Bishop, AIA
PRINCIPAL
Billy joined GBA Architecture in 2012 and became a Principal in 2025. As Design Principal, he leads project design and development across the firm, ensuring consistent, high-quality results. His expertise spans architectural design, construction methods, materials, codes, and engineering integration.
Billy has led a variety of commercial, hospitality, defense, residential, and historic preservation projects. He received three Carolopolis Awards for his restoration work, including the steeples at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, and joined the Carolopolis Award Advisory Panel in 2023. His pro bono work on 20 affordable housing units earned him a spot in Charleston Business Journal’s “Forty Under 40” of 2024.
Billy earned a Master of Architecture from The Catholic University of America in 2010 and became a licensed architect in 2017.
Fun Fact: “ I was the first mate on a parasail boat for a couple of summers in Dewey Beach, Delaware”

Myles Glick
FOUNDER
Myles served as the president of GBA Architecture (formerly known as Glick/Boehm & Associates) since its founding in 1981. He brought extensive experience in all areas of architectural practice, producing award-winning designs and offering a strong combination of technical expertise and project oversight. As the former Director of Design and Construction for the Kiawah Island Company, he guided development efforts for seven years, gaining in-depth knowledge of the real estate industry and contributing a developer’s perspective to the design process.
Beyond his architectural duties, Myles also focused on the firm’s marketing and business development, and supported the construction contract administration department by encouraging contractors to stay on schedule and maintain quality standards.
He earned his Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the University of Cincinnati in 1973 and became a registered architect in 1976.

Gary Boehm
FOUNDER
Gary served as a Principal with GBA Architecture (formerly known as Glick/Boehm & Associates) beginning in 1981. With over three decades of architectural design experience, he was consistently recognized by peers, clients, and professional organizations with regional and national awards for design excellence.
As Design Principal, he was responsible for upholding the quality of programming and design across all Glick/Boehm projects. He led multi-disciplinary teams to identify client needs and deliver high-quality design solutions that met both functional goals and budget constraints. Gary also played a key role in securing project approvals from neighborhood groups, zoning committees, and governmental review boards.
He earned his Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Notre Dame in 1977 and became a registered architect in 1981.
