The Charleston Renaissance Hotel

Client: Hardin Capital LLC

Size: 105,000 sf

Location: Charleston, SC

The 164 room hotel is situated in the historic district of downtown Charleston and reflects the collaboration between GBA, the Board of Architectural Review and the local Preservation Societies.  The building is designed with a lower façade adjacent to the street reflecting the historic scale, and the exterior is comprised of stucco atop a granite base.  The interior auto court provides an opportunity for visitors a haven from the main thoroughfares of the city as they arrive in the expansive and inviting lobby.

The scope of work also included complete site and building design for a 375 capacity parking garage and 12,000 sq. ft. mixed use retail center and offices. This project design was conceived within the strict design parameters of the City of Charleston BAR with consideration toward the local community association and the Historic Preservation Society.
